Discussion Forum: Effects of E-commerce on Retail

Recent years have seen a remarkable transformation in the way India shops and trades. E-commerce has taken the world of retail by storm and captivated the imagination of an entire generation of entrepreneurs, with e-commerce ventures with various business and commercial models. The explosive growth in the last few years has already catapulted the biggest firms among these ventures past the billion-dollar territory.

IPER PGDM 2014-16 batch is organising  a discussion panel on the same today, 1 November 2014. It’ll be an opportunity for the students to have a glimpse of this upcoming industry.

The discussion will be done on the effects of E-commerce on retail sector by the guests, where they will enlighten the young minds about the changing trends in E-commerce industry and how the retail sector is coping up with the challenges which are being put up by the E-commerce.

Discussion will be focusing about the insights on the fundamental issues of today, where emphasize is on how to reduce the efforts and maximize the productivity with the changing market dynamics. Attention will be on “How the external environment is difficult for the retailers when there is a general pressure from E- Commerce (apparels and electronics)”. They will be addressing about the stupendous business model and distribution channel which has been followed by organizations like physical retail and E- Commerce. Insistence will be on how to strive hard to find success in this sector.
